In case you haven't heard yet, Steve Irwin died yesterday. A man whose entire life was dedicated to being a caretaker of the wild things died because of them. In a manner that sounds a lot like a way that anybody could die. Stupid, freak, and nearly pointless. And life gets a little bit smaller.

...it also sucks.

But you know...I don't think he wanted to die that way, but I do think that's the way he wanted to live,. And to have something you love so much that you'd take the risk of dying to do it means he was probably happier in his life than most nice, safe office workers are in theirs.
