Comments and News - Tuesday, May 30, 2006 You ever had one of those characters you really, really, REALLY wished wasn't fiction? I'll admit, this character is pure indulgance for me. For now, anyway. :D
...I really did NOT like making this page. I was very careful (read:anal) about making (unnamed male character) look as good as possible, to the point of calling on my artistic Mother to correct my problems. And then I totally, completely, blew Lucy's face in the last panel. GRRRRRRR. The reason why she looks that...bad...is because she looked much, much worse the first five times I re-drew it. There comes a point where you just have to give up, 'cause it's not going to get fixed no matter what you do.
...oddly, nearly a month later, it's not nearly as bad as I thought it'd be.
In Other News:
Speaking of "Characters you wish weren't fiction", I had an interesting encounter last week, when my brother dragged my mother and me over to the local electronic's store. After about half an hour of watching him drool over videogames, I finally got him to leave...juuuuuuust in time to see Mir walk out of the building. Ok, she wasn't THAT Mir, but she was the closest thing to it you could get and still be in the real world. Her hair was black, not purple, and she was wearing lemon green (It's a color. Trust me. It's a color) and not something...well, purple...but other than that...same hair, same style clothing, same basic build. And what was even funnier was turning to my Mom in time to hear her say "You know, that woman looks just like one of your characters..."
Small. World.
AAAAAAAaaaaaaannnnnnd the countdown to my first plane trip since ninteen-eighty-nine can now be counted on thumbs. In two days I will be flying to St. Louis to participate in the St. Louis Comic Cookout. (JOY!) I know i'm not a Comic-Genesis...sier. Er. Er. Whatever. CGEr anymore...but dang it, them there folks got me to this artistic hight! (and level of insanity, but lets forget about that unitl AFTER the cookout, thank ya very much) So come Thursday the dead silence on this site means that I am either A. On a plane, B. Sleeping off Jet Lag/the effect of getting up at FOUR AM to get to the flight (don't ask) or C. Enjoying the company of fellow comic book artists as we do...whatever the heck it is that we do.
There will be updates, just no news commentary. Which I think you guys can probably live without.
Welp, that's it for...well, this week I guess. See ya'll next week!
(I GET TO GO ON A PLANE RIDE!!!!)
(sorry, that was my inner child jumping out. I've put her back. It's all better now)
