Comments and News - Thursday, April 6, 2006 THERE! FINALLY!
...ahem. This, children, is why Blue Skunk, is...well, Blue Skunk. And if you have to ask why, I so have to hit you, I really do.
Yes, I named my comic after Sarah's hair. Sarah has always had some kind of blue streaky thing in her hair. The idea that evolved into this one (that I may use later, because the current comic in no way resembles that origional idea) had a main character with a blue streak in her hair, which she wore because it made her feel punk. Her name was Sarah Jorden. Eventually she evolved into Sarah Brighton and she kept the blue streak in her hair. When I got an idea for her character that will be explained at least a little by the end of this month, I decided to have the blue streak mean something. And since I couldn't rationally give her just a blue streak, she kind of recieved a blue Cruella DeVille hair treatment.
I can seriously say I have waited TWO. FREAKING. YEARS. to write this scene. Some of the other stuff in this chapter is only a year old, some a few months old, some as new as last week. But this sequence of events, from the shot to the blue stuff to this page today were all planned from day one. Why did I wait so long if the hair thing is what I named the comic after? Well...first because it took this long to get here. Second because...you know how in movies the title of the movie is drawn from something vaguely meaningful and/or when the real story starts? The real story's starting.
Also...if, when this story arc is finished, you still find some fault with the title, then you can criticize it. But before then? PLEASE have some kind of faith that I know what I'm doing.
In Other News:
I may be doing some "spring cleaning" of the archives, so to speak. Nothing big, just a small change that probably won't even be noticed. I'm not sure I'm going to do it, though.
...(yes, if I do do it, this announcement is just to see if anybody notices anything.)
Well...see ya'll next week, unless I think of something else between now and then. |
